Internal Family Systems acknowledges that humans are multifaceted complex beings. It normalizes the experience of having different parts that appear contradictory to each other and helps us find freedom from over identifying with only one aspect of who we are. It is a compassionate and gentle approach to transformation and provides an effective way of caring for the most uncomfortable and unpopular parts of us.

Unwanted behaviors, thoughts and feelings are often seen as pathological. It is often that the parts of us who act, think and feel in ways that are painful become ostracized. Rather than negatively judging and trying to get rid of these parts, IFS aims to get to know them. IFS approaches difficulties with curiosity and compassion. This approach makes it possible for the parts of us that have been stuck to heal and transform the way they operate. Inner harmony translates into a ripple effect of positivity outside of us also transforming our relationships, environment and all aspects of life.
